Pandemic: Great Threat to Mental Health

Mental pain is less dramatic than the physical one, but it’s more common and harder to bear. Covid-19, A severe respiratory illness, as a pandemic, is threatening children to adults physically and mentally. Every mind is struggling with the question, “When will the COVID-19 pandemic be over?

While staying up to date on local and national news related to pandemic can take a toll on mental health, that’s why sometimes it’s okay to take a break from the news.

Self-isolation with the fear of getting positive might possibly result in the deadly effects of mental illness. Unexplained outbursts like inability to relax, stress, insomnia is proceeding to chronic medical conditions. We must be aware of our mental health by limiting worry and agitation.

Individuals are becoming prey to depression unknowingly. Excessive leisure time has led us to overthink, mood swings, poor hygiene, improper eating, and sleeping habits.

Negative thoughts in one’s mind and the situation gets worsened. We feel it’s normal to feel sad, anxious, stressed, confused, and scared during crises and are panicking more day by day.

Everyone should be conscious of their changing behavior; otherwise, it will result in anxiety and slowly towards depression. The person we are living with might be able to identify that one who is struggling.

Although, this COVID-19 outbreak is impacting every part of society. Citizens are posed with dilemmas related to the government’s roles in their daily lives. Unemployment rises to the top, and the global economy is bothered by a long period of unstable financial transactions.

The emerging rate of suicides and unexpected incidents of murders have serious effects on people’s mentality. Psychiatric patients will exceed to the greatest extent beyond our imagination. Mental illness among humankind will be the major knock-on effect of pandemic and the alarming rate of death.

Coping with stress is a must to overcome the deteriorating mental health. Like hunger signals us to eat, thirst signals us to drink water; isolation should be a thought that motivates us to reconnect. Uncertain things that happen is only a chapter in the past. But don’t close the book, turn the page life will bloom differently.
