From DV victims and TPS carriers to vaccinations in Nepal
The United States will provide about 7 million doses of vaccine to countries in Asia, including Nepal. There were various efforts from different levels to provide vaccines from the United States to Nepal. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari wrote a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden, requesting him to provide vaccination to Nepal. Nepalese American also went from calling people’s representatives in their area to conducting signature campaigns. Mr. Bhandari formally wrote letters also to the State Department USAID Management and International Development Chairman Ben Cardin and World Health Subcommittee Chairman Senator Chris Van Holen. Talking to Khasokhas, Mr. Bhandari said, “It has always been a matter of pride for me to be able to help the citizens of the country of my birth when they are in trouble. I am always distressed by the hardships that Nepalese face. I am fully committed and will remain committed for social uplift of my nation”
MP Harry Bhandari, delegate of Maryland State, played a very supportive role in getting the formal request of the Government of Nepal approved. After the US government’s formal decision to provide vaccines to Nepal, Chris Van, who is working on global health issues, wrote an e-mail to the President Bhandari expressing his happiness at being able to work for Nepal in such a difficult situation. Earlier, former Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa, World Health Sub-Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen, and senior officials from the United States held a zoom meeting on the issue of providing vaccines to Nepal.
Harry Bhandary is an elected member of the lower house of the US state of Maryland. Born in Nepal’s mountainous district, Harry Bhandary has been active in American politics for nearly a decade and a half. Harry Bhandary is also politically lobbying the US to take the TPS carrier on the path of green card. Harry Bhandary said, “It is time for the Nepali community to knock on the door as the Biden administration is also positive for TPS carriers. I am working in this regard. But institutional participation of Nepali community leaders and NRNs are also needed. We all need to strive together.’ Bhandary also informed that he had made a formal request to the US government to solve the problem of Nepali DV winners who did not get visas. Bhandary has been providing significant assistance to the Nepali community in the United States, which has been affected by the Corona pandemic. Several Nepalese Leaders, both in Nepal and Outside of Nepal, have been struggling hard for the social welfare of Nepalese. Glued by the bond of patriotism, Nepalese leadership has been making concerted efforts. Nepalese leaders envision a more secure and brighter future for the nation, and national leaders are fully committed to maximize social welfare of Nepalese population.
