In Memory Of The Late Ashish Khanal, The Ashish Foundation Works For The Education And Communication Sectors

The Ashish Foundation has been inaugurated in the memory of Ashish Khanal, who passed away at the young age of 26. Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal inaugurated the foundation by lighting a panas at a program organized at Akama Hotel in Kathmandu on Saturday.

The late Khanal, who was an engineer by profession, had worked on various projects in different parts of the country. In addition, Mr. Khanal also served as finance chief of Namaste Media Inc. The late Khanal is the nephew of Kishor Panthi, the editor-in-chief of Khasokhas. Mr. Khanal was a crucial figure in the establishment of Namaste International Media Group Pvt. Ltd.

The foundation, established in Khanal’s memory, aims to work in the fields of education, health, environment, sports, agriculture, and communication. It works for capacity building and communication development in the area of communication, for the interest of farmers in the field of agriculture, for the field of environment protection, for playing a supportive role in the field of sports, and for working for health capacity building in the health sector and various educational programs in education. Lawyer Sheetal Pandey had clarified the purpose of the foundation.

Minister Pampha Bhusal recalled that she had set up a trust revolving fund in the memory of her mother and wished success to work done in those areas as the Ashish Foundation has taken more broad objectives. He wished the mourners to move forward with the motivation to engage in social work in power.

Speakers at the event included former Chief of Nepal Police Sarbendra Khanal, artists Saroj Khanal, Yam Baral, American social personalities Ananda Bista, Shree Parajuli, and Lok Tiwari, wished the foundation success and said that they wanted to be a part of the foundation.

CEO  and Editor-in-Chief of ABC Television, Mr. Shubha Shankar Kandel and Corporate Nepal Editor-in-Chief Yashoda Timsina wished the foundation success and paid tribute to the late Ashish Khanal.

Journalist Kandel, who lost his mother at the time of Khanal’s ascension, said that he was even more shocked by the news that Khanal had lost his life at a young age.

Kalpana Khanal, the chairperson of the foundation and mother of the late Khanal, said that the foundation was inaugurated by commemorating the 45th day in the memory of her son. She said that he still did not believe that his son Ashish had left the material world and hoped that her son would become a god in the social work done through the foundation.

Asmita Khadka, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of  Khasokhas, gave a welcome address at the inauguration ceremony of the Foundation, where the special guest was Namaste International Media Group Chairperson Mother Tulsi Devi Panthi. The program was conducted by renowned media person Dinesh DC.

The ad hoc committee of the foundation consists of chairperson Kalpana Khanal, vice-chairperson Kishor Panthi, secretary Thaneshwar Khanal, treasurer Tulsidevi Panthi, and members Sushila Bhusal Thapa, Raj Kumar Thapa, Anjana Khanal, Tamlal Panthi and Parvati Panthi. Chief Guest Pampha Bhusal congratulated the ad hoc committee.

Krishna Prasad Sharma, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Lumbini, had pledged Rs. 111,101 to the Foundation. Similarly, CEO of Nirdhan Utthan Bank Janardan Dev Pant, Eknarayan Aryal Bishnu, Kalpana Pokhrel Aryal, Dr. Bheshraj Pokhrel, Sita Pokhrel, Yamlal Khanal, Geeta Khanal, Liladhar Khanal, Vina Khanal, Meghraj Khanal, Chandrakala Khanal and others pledged various financial support to the foundation.
