‘A Day in The Life of Himalaya Shepherd’ shortlisted for the Colony Short Film Festival

“A Day in the Life of a Himalayan Shepherd” is directed by Nepali journalist Manchhiring Tamang. The documentary focuses on a Tamang community; an ethnic group that depends on cattle rearing for the last three centuries. Director Tamang shares his happiness says “Its a big thing, it will help Nepal Tourism year 2020. According to the organizer committee’s official website, 30 films from various countries are selected for the festival. Selected films will be screened continuously amid a festival that will run through March 1 and 2. The documentary will be shown at the 2019 Colony Short Film Festival beginning March 1 in Ohio.

The northernmost part of the Dhading district of Central Nepal is home to a Tamang community; an ethnic group that has been depending on cattle rearing for the last three centuries. This documentary is based on the day of a shepherd from this culturally rich community; who is in the dilemma whether to ask his children to continue his profession or to let them find opportunities elsewhere.
